The Eurecat technology centre today opened Eurecat Innova in Malaga TechPark, the site which will house the joint innovation and technological development unit it has set up in partnership with the Ricardo Valle Innovation Institute Foundation (Innova IRV) to bring its industrial, digital, biotechnological and sustainability capabilities to the innovation and business ecosystem in Malaga and Andalusia.
The opening of the Eurecat Innova site was attended by Francisco de la Torre, mayor of Malaga, Ezequiel Navarro, chair of Innova IRV, and Daniel Altimiras, chair of the Eurecat technology centre. Also there were Felipe Romera, CEO of Málaga TechPark and Innova IRV board member, José Manuel Leceta, CEO of Innova IRV, Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer, and Ignacio de la Vega, director of Eurecat Innova Malaga.
The new site “will enable Eurecat to bring its highly specialised capabilities to the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Malaga and Andalusia to unlock the transfer of technological knowledge to enterprises and society as a whole,” commented Daniel Altimiras.
Eurecat’s local engagement with Malaga and Andalusia as a whole “will be pivotal for pooling and driving technological innovation as a lever for business competitiveness and economic and social prosperity,” he added.
Eurecat Innova will help to deliver ‘‘outstanding technological research and development capabilities which can be turned into products with high added value and social impact.’’
“More technological innovation means more competitiveness, more sustainability and more value for society as a whole,” argued Altimiras, who underscored Eurecat Innova’s goal of becoming a “partner to innovate with inspiration, efficiency and impact in new processes, products and services.”
By opening this new facility, “Eurecat is once again confirming its commitment to fostering technological development at the local level as a stakeholder and in close partnership with the innovation ecosystem and the economic and business community,’’ added Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer.
“Eurecat’s success as a technology centre is built on integrating technologies and skills which make it possible to tackle complex challenges based on territorial reach, accessibility and forging relationships of trust with its involvement in local ecosystems.”
“Together we can bring greater standout value to the Malaga ecosystem and consequently to Andalusia and Spain as a whole anchored in robust investment in talent and fostering complementary skills and capabilities” and “doing so as stakeholder in the area, teaming up to address the shared challenges faced by businesses.”
“Eurecat already delivers highly specialised expertise to over 2,000 enterprises across all sectors and sizes to help them to be more competitive and sustainable backed by team of over 750 professionals,” noted Ignacio de la Vega.
“Eurecat generates more than €60 million in turnover per year,” he added. “However, the crucial thing is the value it creates for companies, especially SMEs, to enable them to stand out and grow in a fiercely competitive global environment.”
