Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer, recently spoke at Futuribles, the technological innovation project hosted by Prensa Ibérica and El Periódico de Catalunya and held in Barcelona to unpack the state of technological innovation. It also featured the ministers of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, and Education and Vocational Training, María del Pilar Alegría, and the Deputy First Minister and Minister of Digital Policies and Territory in the Catalan Government, Jordi Puigneró.

“It is critical that Next Generation funds should target not only economic recovery but also transforming the value chains of strategic industries,” pointed out Xavier López. “This means technology and industrial policies designed to drive innovation and technological and industrial sovereignty in these sectors are essential.”

Xavier López took part in one of the roundtables along with Anna Sánchez Granados, chair of Foment’s Digital Society Committee; José Zudaire, CEO of ASCRI (Spanish Association of Capital, Growth and Investment), and Xavier Ferrás, professor of Operations, Innovation and Data Sciences at Esade.

Futuribles is an initiative for tracking the state of development of technological innovation at the national and regional levels. It kicked off in October and is set to conclude in June 2022 following events in a number of cities across Spain.
