The Minister President of Flanders Jan Jambon visited Eurecat today accompanied by a large group from the Flemish region’s digital ecosystem as part of his visit to the Smart City Expo trade fair in Barcelona.
Xavier Torra, Eurecat’s Chair, welcomed the delegation to Eurecat’s head office in Barcelona which houses the centre’s technology units specialising in digitalisation. Their goal is to deliver services to businesses of all sizes and across all industries while also rolling out European-wide projects with unique value in the digital arena.
“Digitalisation makes a difference for government and also for businesses and society as a whole,” pointed out Torra. “When a country or a business takes an innovative approach, they find ways to do things better and move forward.” He added that at Eurecat “we are committed to making it possible for this journey to have an impact: faster, more efficient and more disruptive.”
During the visit Joan Mas, director of Eurecat’s Digital Unit, presented Eurecat’s operations and its role in the digital ecosystem. He also outlined initiatives such as the Centre of Innovation for Data tech and Artificial Intelligence (CIDAI) which Eurecat coordinates, breakthroughs in preventing and predicting pandemics and identifying diseases using Artificial Intelligence, and also new ways of addressing solutions by blending digital technologies with printed electronics.
