On 4 December, the LIFE PRISTINE project took part of the ZeroPollution4Water (ZP4W) Cluster annual event, organised as a side event of the Water Knowledge Europe 2025 – Winter Edition in Brussels.
Mireia Escalé, project coordinator from ACCIONA, attended the event and presented LIFE PRISTINE as a key European project focused on removing contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) from water streams. The presentation highlighted the project’s objectives, its progress, and its contribution in advancing innovative approaches to prevent and reduce water pollution across Europe.
This year’s meeting marked a significant milestone for the cluster, as LIFE PRISTINE and other new projects were welcomed into the community. The event also reaffirmed the cluster’s commitment to strengthen collaboration by redefining working groups and aligning shared thematic priorities. The event served as an opportunity for all participating projects to exchange insights, strengthen cooperation, and contribute to a collective roadmap that will guide the cluster’s activities and policy input in the coming years.
As part of the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster, LIFE PRISTINE joins a dynamic network of EU-funded research and innovation projects working together to address water pollution through enhanced detection, advanced treatment solutions, improved governance, and effective knowledge transfer. Alongside LIFE PRISTINE, the cluster includes UPWATER, Mar2Protect, NINFA, ToDrinQ, H2OforAll, intoDBP, SafeCREW, ELEKTRA, D4RUNOFF, NPower, UniversWater, NIAGARA, URBANM2O, and Life Cascade, among others.
The annual cluster event brought together researchers, innovators, industry representatives, and policymakers who are shaping the future of water management in Europe. Within the broader framework of Water Knowledge Europe, considered the flagship brokerage event for water-related research and innovation, the meeting provided a space to reinforce synergies between projects and explore new opportunities to accelerate Europe’s transition toward a pollution-free water future.
