The PADIH LABFERRER project develops a printed sensor for the detection of nitrates in agricultural waters, as well as the consultancy for the technology implementation.

This type of low-cost sensor enables the deployment of a widespread monitoring network for nitrates, an essential nutrient in the agricultural industry. However, at the same time, nitrates are a significant contaminant in waters and aquifers.

Developing environmental monitoring sensors using printed electronics technology offers several significant advantages. This technology allows the fabrication of flexible and lightweight sensors, facilitating their integration into various surfaces and devices.

Furthermore, printed electronics provide a more efficient and cost-effective production process compared to conventional methods, enabling the large-scale creation of affordable sensors. The flexibility in design and the ability to print on diverse substrates expand the possibilities of application, adapting to different environments and needs.

Moreover, by using environmentally friendly materials and additive processes, sustainability is promoted in the manufacturing of these devices, emphasizing the importance of technological innovation in environmental monitoring to effectively address global challenges.

Eurecat contributes to this project through its Functional Printing and Embedded Devices Unit, in charge of developing the printed sensor for the monitoring of nitrates. LABFERRER participates as a beneficiary company.
