The AI Congress, which will be held at the Auditori l’Illa in Barcelona on October 22 and 23, will take an in-depth look at the application of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) in companies to optimize production processes through innovation. In addition, it will also address the current impact, sovereignty, and sustainability of artificial intelligence.

Agentic AI is emerging as a new operating model with a high potential impact on companies, representing a paradigm shift in the automation of tasks and processes through the use of autonomous agents capable of making decisions, planning, executing complex tasks, and collaborating flexibly.

To facilitate the deployment and operation of agentic AI, the next step under development is the creation of the so-called Agentic Web, which consists of a set of software tools and infrastructures that enable these agents to collaborate with one another in a secure, interoperable, and verifiable manner. This Agentic Web is an extension of today’s Internet, enhanced with protocols, standards, and trust mechanisms that make communication and coordination between autonomous agents possible.

Albert Esplugas, Global Head of Analyst Relations for Generative AI at Amazon Web Services (AWS), will address some of the key trends in the sector during the congress, such as AI agents, multimodal AI, and hybrid computing models, analysing their current state and their impact on business, society, and everyday life.

Among the expert speakers, the congress will also feature Rod Evans, Vice President of Supercomputing at NVIDIA, who will reflect on the concept of sovereign AI, as well as Mario Lanza, professor at the National University of Singapore, who will discuss the foundations of neurocomputing, a developing computational paradigm that has proven to be up to 1,000 times more energy-efficient in small-scale systems.

This year’s edition will recognize the career of Carme Torras, an expert in robotics and head of the Robotic Perception and Manipulation Group at the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (CSIC-UPC). She will also present work on the co-design of robotic assistants and reveal the key aspects that enhance their usability in healthcare settings.

The second day of the event will offer an overview of the different trends in artificial intelligence through nine thematic sessions, showcasing representative projects and initiatives based on the use of synthetic data, intelligent robotics, and agentic AI, among others. In addition, there will be two sessions dedicated to presenting success stories, featuring a total of 17 innovative projects that improve processes, drive business, and provide new creative perspectives.

About the AI Congress

The AI Congress is a CIDAI event organized by Eurecat with the support of the Government of Catalonia, through the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Department of Business and Labour, within the framework of the Artificial Intelligence Strategy of Catalonia promoted by the Government. The congress is sponsored by CaixaBank Tech, Conversia, Infini, Softeng, the Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT), and Laboral Kutxa. It also collaborates with the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the Computer Vision Center, the i2CAT Foundation, and the Intelligent Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Center (IDEAI) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC).
