The Metalworking Employers’ Association (UPM) and Eurecat are all set to work together to make the organisation’s member companies more competitive through R&D, specialised technology training and technology services.
This partnership will give UPM affiliates access to Eurecat’s technologies, tools, dedicated training and technology support services to address the industry’s new challenges such as digitalisation, sustainability, advanced production and innovation.
“An agreement like this one is especially symbolic: we can’t do things if we don’t all help each other, the country is small and we all need to come together,” notes Xavier Torra, Eurecat’s chair. “Plus metalworking is essential to thrive in industry nowadays while training is needed and it will help us to grow if we join forces.”
“This is a step forward for the country, for everything a commitment to training means,” says Jaume Roura, chair of the UPM. “Over recent years we’ve seen Eurecat’s key role in providing Catalan industry with skilled staff which is absolutely critical for the business community.”
The partnership will take a twofold approach by driving innovation and also pushing technological training. It will roll out a raft of initiatives and programmes closely targeting businesses.
