The Eurecat technology centre today announced the launch of the Eurecat Latam Foundation to drive technological innovation in Latin America’s economic and business community with a special focus on Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile in the Pacific Alliance along with El Salvador and other countries.
Eurecat’s chair Xavier Torra announced the launch of the Eurecat Latam Foundation at the “Challenges for a Circular Chile 2030” conference held in Santiago de Chile to address fast-tracking digital, industrial, biotech and sustainability innovation.
The establishment of the Eurecat Latam Foundation will enhance Eurecat’s long-standing partnership with Latin American firms and institutions in technology transfer, business promotion and rolling out innovation projects in areas including food, smart cities, the environment, energy efficiency, education, tourism and logistics to make enterprises more competitive and foster the wellbeing of society.
Eurecat Latam has a Board of Directors and an Advisory Council made up of leading stakeholders in the science, technology, knowledge and innovation ecosystem representing businesses and organisations such as Codelco, Platech, Domolif, ASIVA, the Systems Biotechnology Centre at Andrés Bello University, Hubtec, Hubapta, Women Board Up and Se Santiago.
The Eurecat Latam Foundation’s goals include “enabling businesses to move into the future with greater energy than ever in key aspects such as digitalisation, rolling out Industry 4.0 and the circular economy,” said Eurecat chair Xavier Torra. He thinks that this approach “turns technology into an essential lever for innovation and its translation into new high-impact products, services and processes.”
Eurecat has been operating in Chile with a permanent office since March 2020. The launch of the Eurecat Latam Foundation means it is now further cementing its commitment to the innovation ecosystem across Latin America as a whole. Carmen Gloria Dueñas, until now country manager at Eurecat Chile, will take over executive management of the new organisation.
Eurecat’s partnership with Latin American companies and institutions has made it possible “to deliver technological value and unlock new opportunities through innovations which are already having a huge impact on business competitiveness due to the paradigm shift brought about by digitalisation and sustainability,” added Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer and a member of the Eurecat Latam Foundation’s Board of Directors
Eurecat and cutting-edge technological innovation
The Eurecat Latam Foundation “will work closely with the innovation ecosystem so that it can learn about and draw on groundbreaking initiatives undertaken by the European and Latin American entrepreneurial and innovation communities from a business, industrial and governmental standpoint,” noted Carme Margelí, Eurecat’s Director of Internationalisation. “It will look in particular at the Pacific Alliance and countries such as El Salvador which it already partners on crucial strategic projects.”
“Eurecat is committed to transferring its expertise to enterprises in all sectors and of all sizes to help drive cutting-edge, sustainable and highly advanced projects,” commented Carmen Gloria Dueñas, Eurecat Latam’s executive director
