Mobile Week Rupit has shown the potential of new technology in rural settings in which digital, industrial and biotechnological innovation hybridisation” can have a “disruptive effect in terms of competitiveness and sustainability,” commented Miquel Rey, Corporate Director of Business Development at the Eurecat technology centre.

Miquel Rey spoke at Mobile Week Rupit about “how new technologies are an opportunity for rural areas” with an impact on “improving aspects such as agriculture and livestock farming and rolling out benefits including telemedicine, e-learning and energy and data availability.”

In his view, Mobile Week Rupit “demonstrates how technology can have a constructive impact on improving territorial balance and how far it can be used in areas such as health, training and implementing cutting-edge solutions by harnessing 3D printing, mobile and aerial robotics and digitalisation.”

At the fair Eurecat showcased examples of innovations in this field such as the development of biocompatible materials for craniotomies by start-up Neos Surgery and the mobile devices the technology centre has designed for monitoring and telecare including eKenku and eKauri. Eurecat has also shown at Mobile Week Rupit how Trip&Kids works as a digital tool for dispersing tourist flows in rural areas.
