Eurecat’s Acelera Pyme office has been unveiled in Manresa as a key player in digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. It will help to unleash ICT in crucial sectors of the economy such as industry, retail, food and beverages and tourism.
This initiative “is starting out here in Manresa to support SMEs in our area as they go digital,” says Juanjo Martín, Eurecat Manresa’s regional manager. “It harnesses Eurecat’s digital and multi-technology integration expertise while working seamlessly with other similar local schemes.”
The project provides SMEs with a network of experts “to analyse and understand the technological needs of businesses and the industries in which they operate and bring them specific solutions to make them more competitive,” adds Roger Font, the director of Eurecat’s Consultancy Department.
The services delivered by the Acelera Pyme office are free of charge and range from technology watch to initial needs guidance for enterprises and all-purpose digitalisation assessment to identify potential technology improvements. The office is expected to cater for at least 1,000 businesses over the next two years.
Eurecat’s Acelera Pyme office is to run eight workshops across Catalonia for SMEs based on their business sector, target audience profile and level of specialisation. Topics will include Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Acelera Pyme offices have been set up throughout Spain by Red.es, a public agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation in the Secretariat of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, and have an overall budget coming to €8 million. Red.es provides €6.3 million and the beneficiaries the rest. The measures are co-financed with ERDF funds from the European Union under the Multiregional Operational Programme for Spain ERDF 2014-2020 with the tagline “A way of making Europe”.
