The Ricardo Valle Innovation Institute Foundation (Innova IRV) and the Eurecat technology centre have announced today the launch of a joint innovation unit as the foundation of their strategic alliance for undertaking collaborative projects, technology transfer and setting up businesses to unlock new production models.
Ezequiel Navarro, chair of Innova IRV, and Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer, inked the agreement today in Malaga for its “forthcoming start-up” at the Malaga Trade Fairs and Conference Centre (FYCMA) during the National Congress of Industry and SMEs.
The joint unit has been set up to bolster the synergies between Innova IRV and Eurecat by conducting collaborative projects with industry and generating new opportunities for investment in innovation. Eurecat will provide research and technological development capabilities while Innova IRV will translate this knowledge into products with high economic value and considerable social impact.
The partnership is also a commitment to keep attracting investment and talent to Malaga as Eurecat is to open its first site outside Catalonia in an office which will house the Eurecat-Innova IRV Joint Innovation Unit at Malaga TechPark.
The agreement’s specific objectives include rolling out innovation strategies and new business models; generating technological assets which add to the international industrial resilience of the socio-economic network; jointly devising and implementing R&D and innovation projects which address solutions to the main challenges identified by businesses, and expediting the ability to generate ideas and bring them to the market.
“This is an extremely useful strategic alliance for businesses in the local and national innovation ecosystem,” commented Ezequiel Navarro, chair of Innova IRV. “We see Eurecat as the leading technology centre which will support Innova IRV’s most significant projects.”
“Through this alliance Eurecat seeks to play a role in Malaga’s vibrant innovation ecosystem,” added Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer. “We will bring additional value to the rest of its players and help to grow it and connect it with other regional ecosystems.”
