
The TECSOL-FRUT project develops an innovative agri-voltaic solution based on the design of an agricultural field with integrated rigid photovoltaic assisted by a digital twin. The aim is to analyze, implement and validate this technology as a tool to adapt agriculture to the effects of climate change, which is altering the natural cycles of crops, advancing flowering and increasing exposure to extreme phenomena such as heat waves, droughts, intense radiation, heavy rains or late frosts.
Agrivoltaic systems allow to combine agricultural production with the generation of renewable energy, providing shade to crops, reducing thermal and water stress, reducing the evaporation of water and improving protection against adverse climatic conditions. At the same time, they contribute to the decentralization and decarbonization of the energy model, promoting self-consumption and the expansion of renewable energies.
Eurecat will be in charge of developing a digital planning and simulation tool to predict the behavior of the system under different environmental conditions and optimize agricultural and energy production. In the pilot phase, field sensors, satellite images, meteorological predictions and artificial intelligence models, integrated into a digital twin, will be incorporated to monitor cultivation and energy in real time. TECSOL-FRUT combines sustainability, innovation and productive efficiency with a high transfer potential to the agri-food sector.
