The Sant Joan de Déu Health Park in Sant Boi is to implement a remote monitoring solution developed by the Eurecat technology centre and called ekenku to monitor the 23 places in the programme for homes with mental health support managed by the health institution.

This new technological solution will allow the team of psychologists and social educators in the supported homes to perform more specific control of warning symptoms which may emerge as a result of SARS-CoV-2 infection. It will additionally enhance health and social care for this group of people while lockdown is still in force.

Enrique de la Vega, head of digital innovation product management in Eurecat’s Healthcare and Social Sciences division, says ekenku’s questionnaire and video-conference system “has a modular design which means it can be quickly used in any situation where the person being attended to needs to have a private conversation with the healthcare centre through a secure channel, both during home hospitalisation and also in the case of chronic patients requiring continuous care”.
