Xavier López, Eurecat’s Chief Operating and Corporate Officer, has been re-elected as deputy chair of the Spanish Federation of Technology Centres (FEDIT) as part of the new Governing Council of the organisation whose new chair is Laura Olcina from ITI.
“FEDIT is embarking on a new stage after leading technology centres in a number of Spanish regions recently rejoined it,” commented Xavier López. “This has made it more representative and brought it greater clout in national technology policies.”
“We have a huge opportunity here as we have to effectively convey to government and the public the key role technology centres play in our economy and society,” pointed out Laura Olcina during her inaugural address. “The Federation’s strength comes from the talent of its member technology centres.”
The Spanish Federation of Technology Centres was set up in 1996. Since then has been promoting and fostering innovation, technological development and private research to make businesses more competitive by supporting technology centres. It is one of the main driving forces behind private R&D and innovation in Spain and a key partner for industry in its competitiveness and internationalisation strategies.
FEDIT is made up of 43 technology centres employing more than 6,500 people and delivering services to 25,000 companies per year. In 2021, its member centres earned revenue coming to more than €660 million and conducted over 5,000 R&D and innovation projects.
