The COOPHS project was presented during AMatS 2025, the 4th conference on Advanced Materials in Spain, taking place from 24–26 November at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Duc-Chau (Bokky) Nguyen, project partner from ALBA-CELLS, participated in the poster session, presenting the poster titled “Advanced STEM & XAS Characterization of Cu Tramp Element Segregation in Boron Steel (22MnB5)”.

The work shows how advanced STEM-EDS, 4D-STEM, and synchrotron-based techniques are being combined to detect Cu segregation and nanoscale precipitates in press-hardened boron steel, while preliminary Cu K-edge EXAFS measurements and theoretical simulations guide upcoming experiments to clarify the local atomic environment of copper and ultimately support strategies for managing tramp copper in low-CO₂, scrap-based steel production.

AMatS 2025 once again served as a dynamic forum for researchers and industry specialists to share the latest advances in material science. The conference provided a high-level platform where experts exchanged insights on new technologies, analytical methods, and future trends shaping the field of advanced materials.
