The technology centre Eurecat and the textile innovation company Total Training Suit have developed an innovative sports outfit designed as a “second skin”, capable of increasing the intensity of functional training sessions by up to 30%.

The prototype provides mechanical resistance to movement, allowing athletes to exert greater effort during physical activity. In addition, the fabric used guarantees complete freedom of movement to carry out a full training session.

As explained by the CEO of Total Training Suit, Salvador Crespo, “we designed this outfit to address a gap in the sector, since until now, although materials and tools exist to improve training quality and athletes’ physical performance, they have shortcomings that do not allow for optimal sports practice”.

Eurecat has contributed to the functional and aesthetic design of the outfit, as well as to the selection of technical fabrics, pattern making and the production of the final prototype. According to the Head of the Functional Textiles Line at Eurecat, Rosa Rodríguez, “this inspiring product highlights the relationship between textiles and sport beyond comfort, demonstrating how fabric can become a key tool for improving performance. Moreover, it fosters the creation of synergies between sports scientists and textile researchers, opening up new opportunities for joint innovation”.

Currently, the Applied Technology for High Performance and Health research group at Tecnocampus has completed the first scientific studies on the efficiency of the sports garment, evaluating its effectiveness in improving performance and facilitating movement during a complete functional training session, with very positive results. Once this research phase is completed, the prototype will be ready for market launch.
