SMOOTH

European reference platform in order to help MSMEs validate their compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation by designing and implementing easy-to-use and affordable tools.

SMOOTH platform technological development and innovation is built upon several existing techniques, combining advanced technology in the area of machine learning, text mining, data mining and web and mobile apps, to automatize MSMEs GDPR compliance analysis.

Compared to existing solutions, SMOOTH platform is the first tool being targeted specifically to MSMEs, the most vulnerable EU enterprises to fail GDPR adoption due to their lack of expertise and resources. The platform analyses in real time the information provided in the registration process and the resources uploaded by the MSMEs to the platform, and it is composed by three modules:

• SMOOTEXT: platform module analysing the documents related to the privacy protection process of MSMEs (privacy policy and others).
• SMOODATA: module analysing the databases where MSMEs are storing personal data.
• SMONLINE: module analysing the processes involving personal data collected for exploitation from MSMEs websites and mobile apps.

SMOOTH is a Horizon 2020 project coordinated by Eurecat participated by twelve partners from six European countries (Spain, Belgium, United Kingdom, Poland, Latvia and France), gathering GDPR experts, representatives of European micro SMEs, large enterprises, innovation and research institutions, an SME and a standardization body.
