The European RESETTING project, coordinated by the Eurecat technology centre, has rolled out the digital and ecological transformation of 60 small and medium-sized European tourism enterprises, 14 of them in Tarragona, and they have received over half a million euros in grants to enhance their resilience and sustainability by integrating innovative technologies.

The project’s results were presented at its final conference held in Tarragona Provincial Council’s Auditorium in Tarragona attended by the eight RESETTING consortium partners, organisations and companies in the tourism industry.

“During the last thirty months we have handed out over half a million euros in funding to sixty tourism SMEs to support their green and digital transition,” said Ignacio de las Cuevas, coordinator of the RESETTING project and head of Global Partnerships and Tourism Innovation in Eurecat’s technological consultancy. “They were carefully selected from Spain, Albania, Greece, Portugal and Italy in three calls for proposals and we have conveyed to them a tangible and realistic vision of the benefits technological tools could bring them.”

Furthermore, “we have set up an online community where our beneficiaries and external stakeholders can access the sustainable tourism tools and other resources we have developed on an open source basis.”

The RESETTING project, co-financed by European Union funds under the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME) programme, has supported companies through the testing and integration of innovative digitally-driven solutions which reduce unnecessary burdens, enhance the quality of the tourism experience and contribute to decarbonising the tourism sector and more inclusive economic growth.
