Experts at the Tech4Good Congress, an annual conference that is organized by the Eurecat technology centre and focuses on technology that offers exponential benefits to society, today discussed the manufacture of new products from agricultural waste as a potential solution for the future. They also highlighted the fact that product sustainability is a growing priority for consumers ahead of brand value.

Under the motto of “A Healthier Future for People and Planet”, this year’s edition of the Congress focused on biotechnology and clean technologies. Those present discussed the main challenges and trends that will emerge over the next three years: a period in which the agricultural, chemical, healthcare and tourism industries will play leading roles, in light of their status as the industries with the greatest potential in terms of the circular economy.

“The planet’s population is growing, while our consumption and use of resources are skyrocketing. This translates to an environmental impact that is increasing at an exponential rate”, explained Eurecat CEO Xavier Torra during the opening session of the Congress, which took place at CaixaForum Barcelona.
