Irrigation management tool with alternative water sources for the resilience of fruit and vegetable farms.
CLIMASEQ develops an advanced decision support system for irrigation, which integrates alternative water sources such as groundwater, rainwater and reclaimed water.
This tool will help farmers efficiently manage irrigation in the short and medium term, optimising the use of water resources according to the specific needs of crops and water availability.
In addition, it promotes sustainable management of water resources in the long term, taking into account future climate scenarios, and will improve the resilience of farms to climate change, especially during drought episodes.
With personalised recommendations based on real-time data and an intuitive interface that allows monitoring and analysing critical parameters, the system will be validated in representative crops such as vineyards, fruit trees and horticultural crops to ensure its applicability and effectiveness in various agricultural scenarios.
The project arises from the need to optimise agricultural irrigation management in a context of limited and uncertain availability of water resources, such as groundwater, rainwater and reclaimed wastewater.
Eurecat participates in the CLIMASEQ project through its Water, Air and Soils Unit (WAS), performing the characterisation of groundwater and other water resources, such as reclaimed water and rainwater available on different agricultural farms.
CLIMASEQ is formed by INNOVI as group coordinator, Vilarnau as leader, Gramona and Agrícola Maresme as beneficiaries, and Eurecat, and IRTA as technology centers.
