Development of new ester-based oils and additives, as well as lubrication strategies for electric mobility.

The 2E4GREEN project boosts a smart-lubrication strategy based on the selective activation of microencapsulated additives to reduce friction and wear, increase lubricant efficiency and extend service life.

It does so by taking into account both the improvement of friction losses and the working conditions of electric mobility, to respond as a whole to the new concept of green mobility.

The addition of additives to base oils improves the tribological performance of the system. In this sense, 2E4GREEN develops a solution based on additive microencapsulation and the selective release of these additives.

2E4GREEN aims to extend the life of the lubricants and achieve better performance in service with a lower quantity of additives. The expected results of the project will allow the optimization of the use of lubricants in mechanical systems.

Moreover, the project develops a microencapsulation system for the most frequent and necessary additives that can be found in this type of lubricant: friction modifiers, anti-wear and extreme pressure.

Thanks to this, it is expected to control the release of additives if required by working conditions. The selective activation of the microcapsules will delay the aging of the additives, preserving the performance of fresh additives for longer.
