Intelligent companionship for the well-being and preventive medicine of the elderly.
The AIMARA project develops an intelligent virtual assistant capable of seeing, listening, and interacting naturally with the user and offering them personalized content. Its primary goal is to provide companionship to people over the age of 70 in situations of unwanted loneliness, using advanced technologies that reinforce the sense of support and proximity.
The solution is based on a distributed architecture that combines edge computing, which processes data locally to ensure an immediate, real-time response, with cloud components dedicated to global management and data analysis. This combination allows for the integration of voice processing, computer vision, and personalized recommendation mechanisms within a unified environment.
Furthermore, the system incorporates emotional detection via audio and image, conversational turn-taking management, and empathetic voice synthesis to dynamically adapt the interaction based on the user’s response. The captured data, which includes voice, facial expression, gestures, and interactive behaviour, is integrated with declarative, interaction, and contextual data within a structured digital phenotyping model. Through this representation of user behaviour, the system enables the analysis of each person’s status and evolution over time to identify needs, relevant changes, and behavioural patterns.
Based on this analysis, tailored, prioritized, and traceable recommendations are generated. All actions are aligned with the specific profile and situation of the user. Likewise, the tool’s validation with end-users is planned to evaluate its acceptance, usability, and real-world impact.
Eurecat participates in the project through its Digital Health, Robotics and Automation, and Audivisual Technologies units. In consortium with AiMA and under the coordination of Dynamo.video, this collaboration combines expertise in artificial intelligence, computer vision, voice processing, and data architectures to build a coherent, scalable, and technologically robust solution.
