Monitoring software tool to assist the user in the decision-making process using the Decision Support System (DSS) for energy and process management throughout the entire wine and Cava production chain, from harvesting to bottling and storage.
The Smart Wineries 4.0 Project aspires to be the starting point of a strategy for the evolution of the sector towards industry 4.0 based on the development of digital skills to make efficient use of the information on energy consumption and to take action on the production process.
The Smart Wineries 4.0 solution provides information on the energy status of the wineries, from overall energy consumption to the energy function of the production process and the relevant energy impact indicators. In this way, winery managers can make decisions and adopt operating strategies that imply a reduction in their energy bill, enhancing the performance of equipment and implementing improvements in the production system.
The tool also allows you to compare your energy status with other companies in the sector with similar characteristics, using a sector Benchmarking system.
The project, coordinated by the Clúster de l’Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC), is formed by a consortium participated by the Wine Cluster of Catalonia INNOVI, the Wine Technology Centre VITEC, the consulting and engineering firm ARCbcn and the Eurecat Sustainability Unit.
Eurecat has contributed to the project with its knowledge of the development of the software system for the analysis of the energy efficiency of the wine and Cava production process, as well as in defining the best available technologies for the production process in terms of energy and water consumption, and for energy generation in the wine sector.
