DGTUR 2024 EURECAT

Promotion of the evolution and constant improvement of the Catalan tourism sector.

The agreement between the General Directorate of Tourism and Eurecat contemplates different actions included in the DGTUR 2024 project. These are the most notable activities:

In this event, which already has eleven editions, companies from the tourism sector, innovation and technological development companies, as well as involved public institutions, associations, and specialised guilds will be invited. The main objective is to generate synergies, stimulate, and create new business opportunities.

  • Creation of training itineraries.

Through the creation of training itineraries, the aim is to contribute to the increase of the competitiveness of the Catalan tourism sector, framed in a cooperation scenario, and facilitate the implementation of digital transformation, innovation, and sustainability in all areas and processes of tourism companies and entities.

  • Deployment and execution of the TDS at the Catalan level.

The TDS project continues, through which the Tourism Data System digital platform has been developed, which collects, aggregates, and processes tourism occupancy data in Catalonia and makes it available to accommodations, business associations, and tourism management entities.

  • Deployment and execution of the TDS MICE.

The Tourism Data System MICE (TDS MICE) is an online platform that allows periodic monitoring of the activity of the Congress, Meetings, Conventions, and Incentive Travel sector through an electronic web platform, where results are calculated, centralised, and presented. These results can be consulted by all parties through an attractive visual presentation environment that facilitates comparative reading and the ability to download reports.

  • Web hosting and online availability of self-diagnosis tools and the tourism repository.

The objectives of this task are, on the one hand, to ensure the web availability and functioning at all times of the three developed self-diagnosis tools: digital for tourism companies; sustainability and CSR; and wine tourism; and, on the other hand, to ensure the web availability and operability at all times of the web portal for consulting research documents in the Catalan tourism field.

  • Support, evaluation, and justification of Tourist Destination Sustainability Plans.

Eurecat, as a multidisciplinary technological centre, provides broad and transversal expertise, not only in tourism but also in technological innovation, sustainability management, and technical and economic project management. For these reasons, it supports the Directorate General of Tourism in reviewing proposals for the ordinary call for the 2024 Tourist Destination Sustainability Plans Program (PSDT), as well as in the monitoring and accompaniment during 2024 of the projects benefiting from the extraordinary calls of 2021, 2022, and 2023 (53 Plans in total).

  • Review and implementation of the two tourism indicator systems for the Catalonia destination.

Eurecat supports the Directorate General of Tourism in reviewing, improving, and executing the two intelligence and competitiveness tourism indicator systems available (Tourism Competitiveness Indicator System and Tourism Intelligence Indicator System). Thus, the aim is to consolidate them as a key instrument to objectively measure tourism activity and define its state.

Eurecat leads the activities of the DGTUR 2024 project through its Consultancy Department, with the lines of Culture and Tourism, Markets and Innovation Systems, Innovation Management and Digital Transformation. In addition, Eurecat Events and Eurecat Academy also participate.

Related ODS

Through actions such as the creation of training itineraries, this project contributes to facilitating access to quality training for companies and organisations in the field of tourism. In addition, the different methods of accessing the content (face-to-face, synchronous online, and asynchronous online) facilitate universal accessibility for people with different needs and characteristics.

Through actions such as the deployment of the TDS and TDS MICE platform, the organisation of the TurisTIC Forum and the implementation of support tasks and justification of Sustainability Plans in Tourist Destinations, the project contributes to promoting the sustainable growth of companies and tourist destinations, favoring the creation of decent jobs and obtaining greater control over the tourism sector.

The tasks included in this project favor the transformation of the Catalan tourism sector and the provision of tools (TDS, support for Sustainability Plans, self-diagnosis tools, support for innovation) to become a sector with more knowledge of the tourist situation, with a greater degree of preparation and professionalisation, more innovative and with a higher degree of sustainability.

A more sustainable and controlled tourism sector favors the improvement of the quality of life in cities and other foci of tourist interest, making these human settlements more respectful, inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

As in the previous case, improvements in sustainability and professionalism in the tourism sector generate positive synergies to create models of tourism consumption and production that are more sustainable and respectful of people and the environment.
