Training, business advisory services, and self-diagnosis tools for the transition of tourism MSMEs in La Guajira towards circular and regenerative models.
The ECOINNOVATUR LA GUAJIRA project drives a transformation process in the tourism sector of the La Guajira department towards a more competitive and sustainable model. The initiative places circularity, regeneration, and innovation as drivers of change, aiming to evolve towards an activity that actively contributes to regenerating ecosystems and strengthening local communities.
Through a dialogue between science and ancestral wisdom, the project is developing a digital self-diagnosis tool that allows MiPymes (MSMEs) to assess their maturity in circularity and regeneration and receive personalized recommendations that integrate environmental and social criteria, as well as respect for local culture.
Drawing on these insights, the project rolls out tailored training programs and advisory services to help businesses implement concrete improvements in resource management, tourism products, and community engagement. Furthermore, the project promotes territorial coordination, creating collaborative spaces between companies, public institutions, and communities to strengthen the tourism value chain with lasting synergies.
The project not only transfers technical knowledge but also serves as a bridge between technological innovation and the cultural and natural wealth of La Guajira, opening new future opportunities for the territory.
Eurecat’s Technological Consultancy unit leads the development of the self-diagnosis tool and provides its international expertise in sustainability and regenerative tourism, adapting it to the specific characteristics of La Guajira to ensure that innovative solutions are deeply rooted in the local reality.
The project is coordinated by the Cámara de Comercio de La Guajira with the participation of Eurecat. The initiative is funded by the European Union’s AL-INVEST Verde program, and its technical and financial implementation is managed by sequa gGmbH, the EU’s mandated entity for supporting joint efforts between business organizations from Europe and Latin America.
