The EFENERVI project aims to evaluate the hybridisation of technologies based on renewable energies and high-performance equipment to meet the energy demand of the production process in the production of wine and cava, as well as the optimal operating strategies of its process and consumption, in order to maximise energy efficiency as well as strategies for optimising demand, based on a series of technical, economic and environmental indicators.

Promoting the innovation and sustainability of the wine-making sector, the project works to experimentally demonstrate the economic and energy viability of the solutions studied in the pilot facilities.

As a result of the project, a tool will be obtained capable of automatically determining the optimal energy infrastructure of a winery, in terms of renewable technologies and high-performance equipment, as well as the optimal operating strategies based on needs and limitations of the winery according to the technical, economic and environmental indicators defined by it. On the other hand, a series of good practice guides and dissemination mechanisms will be generated to replicate the energy saving strategies in the wineries of Catalonia.

The consortium is led by the company Codorniu and also involves the company Juvé & Camps and the food cooperative Unió. Eurecat is the provider of knowledge and participates through its Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact Unit (WEEI), which is responsible for the technical execution of the evaluation of the hybridisation of technologies based on renewable energies. The EFENERVI consortium is coordinated by the Catalan wine cluster INNOVI.
