On June 4th, SuPreAM partners celebrated the fifth General Assembly of the project, hosted by Luleå University of Technology (LTU) at its campus in Luleå (Sweden), marking the beginning of the last stretch of the project before its conclusion in December 2026.

Representatives from each partner entity participated in the meeting to present and review the progress achieved across all work packages, from the numerical modelling of cutting and EDM processes to the surface integrity characterisation, the demonstrators and the validation of the predictive models.

The assembly, kindly organised by the LTU team, also served to coordinate the remaining activities and deliverables ahead of the project’s closure.

During this final phase, the project is focusing its efforts on consolidating the results and validating the developed predictive models, bringing SuPreAM closer to its main objective: to optimise the surface integrity of Additive Manufactured and Machined steel components and to reduce manufacturing expenditures at the steel industrial sector by minimising the material scrap and reducing the number of re-processing loops during finishing operations.

Coordinated by Eurecat, the SuPreAM consortium is also formed by ArcelorMittal, Grupo Sevilla Control (GSC), DRT Group, Luleå University of Technology, CIMNE-UPC and the IDONIAL Technology Centre.
